The World Mental Health day falls on 10th of October with the theme for 2009 being – "Mental health in primary care: enhancing treatment and promoting mental health". It is intended to draw worldwide attention to the growing body of knowledge on integration which emphasises the benefits of enhancing overall health and promoting mental health by integrating health care services.
On 10th October 2009 the National Institute of Mental Health will hold a walk to raise awareness on mental health issues with the participation of health care workers, friends and families of clients, volunteers and well wishers. The walk will commence at the Art Gallery Colombo at 8.30 am and proceed to the Lipton roundabout. This will be followed by an exhibition of arts and handicraft items at the Lionel Wendt.
